ITF Summits are annual events with the largest gathering of transport ministers in the world; they are attended by a diverse group of advisors, experts, and stakeholders. At this year’s summit in Leipzig (Germany), the focus was safety and security in transport which touched on the issues of terrorism, cyber-security, road safety, extreme weather, and autonomous cars.

As part of a safety-oriented ITF agenda, the FIA High Level Panel held its biannual meeting of experts and advisors on 22 May 2018.  In the road safety context, Dr. Maria Segui Gomez, Special Advisor for Road Safety at FiA, presented the latest ESRA results concerning thirteen Latin American countries. Her presentation highlighted the cost-effectiveness of ESRA’s methodology and the potential of the dataset. The ESRA dataset contains a wide range of important road safety topics and themes; it could provide valuable insights for stakeholders, policy makers, planners, and researchers.
